Back in my high school and college days I was a "weekend warrior" athlete. I played golf in high school and many other sports recreationally. As I moved my career forward I became less involved in athletics and I let my diet slide. From my high school graduation weight I had gained about 50 pounds. A couple of years ago I had some health and allergy problems and I went on a soy free diet that helped me lose about 40 pounds. Over time I gained back 20 pounds.
Fast forward to today. I have maintained my weight for about 2 years. I need to lose some weight but I also need to get conditioned for what is about to come my way. Who would have thought that in my mid-40's I would be looking at bilateral knee replacements. But here I sit needing to have both medial compartments replaced in mid-December due to a bad case of osteoarthritis. I am doing my conditioning now to help speed my recovery later this year.
